Fatoumata Tambadou was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Started school in the Congo, but finished in Mali. Moved to Mali as a refugee. She came from a family of 8 children. Life was very hard being a refugee in Mali. The refugee office in Mali helped us a lot and that gave me the courage of helping as well. I relocated to the USA in 2008. I have been a refugee for more than 10 years. I have the desire to help other refugees, because I know what it's like being a refugee. I want to be a role model. I want to help others, because I know it's not easy being a refugee or an immigrant in a foreign land. With what I have experienced myself, I don't want anyone to go through it, so I want to help. My goal is to speak for others and be there for them.
